Complete the steps as described below to recover search functionality in Microsoft Outlook:

  1. With Outlook open, click Start > Indexing Options > Modify > Uncheck Outlook (and subfolders) > Click OK to close Indexing windows.
  2. Close Outlook.
  3. Open Outlook.
  4. Click Start > Indexing Options > Modify > Check Outlook (and C:\ if it’s unchecked) > click OK to everything to close Indexing windows.

You can test search functionality immediately in Outlook. It might be working a bit slow due to re-indexing in the background.
